Draft of Human Trafficking Story (Reflective Pieces)

With a lot of findings recently I decided to do a story about human trafficking, although my angle is not fresh. My angle is it could happen to you.

Working on the story was hard because initially this was not the organization/story I had chosen from the start, I had chosen a story about Child Social Grant beside from not getting the video. I opted to change my story. The first story would have been dry and I felt there was no fresh angle I could go with.

With the human/child trafficking story I had a lot of sources I could use and the fact that local soapie Generation has a story line about it and SABC2 talk show Motswako had local young actress, presenter Boitumelo “Boity” Thulo talk about her experience whereby she was lured by people who said they were from ‘Neutrogena’ (international skin care brand). They got her to fly to Cape Town where after booking her into the hotel they were eager to get her out off the hotel to meet some people.

It would never happen to me. This is what most people believe about human trafficking, whether you think you are smarter or adroit of taking care of yourself, you could see yourself living in another country unwillingly.

Shocking fact is there are also people who think they have had their fair share of mishaps and see living in another country doing God knows what s better than the life they are living now.

In future I need to work hard of thinking of a fresh new angle to go with on a story. Most of my stories are boring or have been done to death that is what I struggle with in school work and my Blog.
